Hi Goodnesshype,

Thank you for your question and welcome to our community.

Setting veneer stone is much like setting tile on your floor, except that you will be using a mortar instead of a thin set, which is usually used on tile floors inside your house.  Using a mortar gives you a stronger bond when it is used for outside or inside applications.

Spec-mix will give you the most time for setting as opposed to the Quikrete Rapid set which will start to set in as little as 15 minutes after mixing.

In addition to the mortar, you will need:

A mixing bucket or mixing tub

Mixing tool & Drill

Hawk

Trowel

Many of the Veneers do not need a spacer to keep the space between each layer.  If you find that your particular application requires spacers, you can use the regular 1/2 inch spacers or the 1/2 inch square dowel to keep a consistent space between each level of veneer.
