Ni Brad81,

The door is catching because the door jamb is out of plumb, in other words it’s not square.

This is a result of the settling of the wall which is normal for any home over time.

The easiest solution is to sand or plane down the top corner of the door to clear the jamb and not hang up or catch.

You also may shim the top hinge at the jamb, placing a shim of card board behind the top hinge will drop the top of the door slightly and may solve the problem.

However, if you shim it too much the door may catch at the bottom.
