Hi diadem,

Our Garden Experts are off today, but I'll provide a short answer to assist you.

Spirea transplants best when moved in winter or very early spring ... before new growth begins.

This standard is fairly universal and since you're in New England, your growth timeline may not be underway yet.

Take time to carefully inspect your specimen for new growth before you proceed.

Others will certainly want to add suggestions when they return.

Hope this helps,
