Trending in the Aisles: Hampton Bay Indoor/Outdoor Area Rugs

The Home Depot already has great options to compliment your patio furniture or outdoor space.

In a previous post, I talked a little about lighting that area.

This time around, I'll go over an sometimes overlooked aspect for your outdoor space...the floor.

While your patio, gazebo, or deck could have a wood or concrete floor, you can always opt for placing an outdoor-rated area rug over it to really tie in the space. A great example of this is the Hampton Bay Navy Medallions Indoor-Outdoor Area Rug shown above.

Below I'll go over some choices new to this season and some old favorites  that are found at your local Home Depot, but remember you can always get more options here online.

Of course, you'll first need to know the size of your space so you can get the right rug to suit your needs. For example, a small throw rug size may not cover the patio furniture set, but a large area rug might be too large for a small gazebo area.

Hampton Bay Brown Border 7 ft. 7 in. x 10 ft. 10 in. Indoor/Outdoor Area Rug

This area rug comes in a great color, price, and size. For any outdoor rated rug, including this one, cleaning and maintaining it is simple.

Just sweep, vacuum, and rinse off any debris you find via a garden hose. Never use harsh chemicals like bleach products, but you may need to let it air out for proper drying.

The fibers that make up these rugs are resistant to mold, mildew, and fading. But make sure to occasionally view the underside to ensure no unwanted 'growth' is present there.

Hampton Bay Red and Beige Trellis Indoor/Outdoor Area Rug

For something with a bit more color, this rug has a earthy feel, but it's design still commands attention.

This particular outdoor-rated rug has a backing made from polyester, which requires no rug gripper pads.

However, if this is going to be placed in a high-traffic area, you can opt for using gripper tape to hold the rug down firmly. Remember that a lot of rug pads aren't rated for outdoor use, but rug gripper tape can be.

Shown below and linked here, use this exterior-grade tape to keep your rugs from becoming a trip hazard if they are going to be in high traffic areas.

Roberts 2-1/2 in. x 25 ft. Roll of Rug Traction Anti-Slip Rubber Tape

Palm Border 5 ft. 3 in. x 7 ft. 4 in. Indoor/Outdoor Rug

While not by Hampton Bay, your local store this season has Palm Border style area rugs new to 2016.

This rug is polypropylene based, which means you would need a gripper of some sort underneath it (the tape shown above would be perfect for it).

And just like the Hampton Bay versions, these come in other sizes, so you can get the perfect fit.

As stated earlier, these are just some types of outdoor-rated rugs that you can place anywhere in and outside of your home for a durable flooring option.
