Trending in the Aisles: Pink Flamingos

User-added image

Yes, you’re looking at the Official Bird of Madison, Wisconsin!  Not the real, live pink flamingo, but indeed the plastic ones.  And why not?  Plastic pink flamingos have dotted our landscape nationwide ever since they were created in the late 1950’s.  Bold, very pink and oh so tacky as to be really cool, these ornaments can really make a difference in your landscape design.

Originally embraced by thousands of working class families as a way to dress up their front yard, today there are even upscale models that can make a statement almost anywhere.  These two below are particular favorites for back yard décor:

How about something like this for a more Hawaiian twist?

Real flamingos can flock in groups of hundreds, even thousands of birds.  These flocks are actually called a flamboyance.  Fitting name I think.  You can get that flamboyance effect in your yard as well.  Plastic pink flamingos are sold in packs of 50 for those special occasions where you really want to attract attention.

They’re great for fundraisers, parties, and well social events anywhere you want guests to know that they have arrived! Of course, we know that the flamingos have arrived as they have their own fan club.  It’s called the “International Society for the Preservation of Pink Lawn Flamingos”.  Truth can be stranger than fiction… For the even more upscale customer who has a sizeable pool, lake or ocean to swim in, I give you the Pink Flamingo Pool Float.

When only the best will do.
