Hello paolag and welcome to the community!

Measuring for a patio door is not difficult, you must first determine how wide of a door would you like, two of the most common widths are 5 feet and 6 feet, the heights are usually 79-1/2".

Since you already know where you want the doors and that you want them French, so you will have two doors that swing into the room, or if would rather, you can have the doors swing out on to the patio.

Once you have determine those few things you next need to know if the wall where the door is going has any electrical or plumbing behind the drywall that needs to be moved. You may need the assistance of a plumber or electrician to complete this task.  Also, you will need to determine if that area where you want to put the door is a load bearing wall, if you are not sure, you may need to consult with a carpenter or a structural engineer.

If you go to your local Home Depot and find which model of patio door interest you and have the salesperson give you the exact size specifications for that door, then you will know exactly what size to make your rough opening, (stud to stud).
