What fitting do I need to hook natural gas stove to main line in old house?

I have an old house my kids are moving into. The main gas line coming out of the floor for their natural gas stove is a size I am having a hard time hooking up to. Is there an adapter that is available for the old valves?

Hi madfisher75

Many older homes have 5/8” gas valves and a ¾ inch gas supply line.

Adaptors are available to attach a smaller line to the valve.

However I would recommend replacing the gas valve with a newer modern ½” valve which will guarantee no leaks and a safer connection.

Turn off the gas to the house and remove the old valve, take it to your local Home Depot, our plumbing associates will assist you in selecting a new valve and gas line for the house.
