Depending on the shade of the stain - I have used Old English to help scratches be not so noticable.  I have also used one shade lighter in stains and have touched up the scratches to retore some cabinets in better condition.  You have to apply stain a few times - but did a great job.

Welcome to our community Bkk!

My name is Christine and I work in the paint department at Home Depot. The previous poster, Dwilson, is certainly correct in their recommendation of Old English and a lighter shade of stain for fixing your problem. I just wanted to tell you about an additional product that will work for you as well. :)

Howard Restor-A-Finish is a great product to use for restoring furniture. This product will restore the color and blend out light scratches. Simply apply this product with a lint free rag or super fine (0000) steel wool. Restor-A-Finish comes in a variety of colors for you to choose from.

Howard Restor-A-Finish 16 oz. Wood Finish Restorer - Golden Oak

I hope this helps you with your project. Please let us know if we can help with anything else!
