Welcome to our community Ctluke!

Since your metal is new and clean, you don't need to use anything special to clean it before you paint it. Just wipe it down with a damp cloth to make sure there isn't any dust on it before you paint.

If the metal is really slick, scuff it with 180 grit sandpaper. This will help your primer stick to the surface better.

Before you paint, you are going to want to use a metal primer. Rust-Oleum has a Clean Metal Primer that will work perfectly for you. I would highly recommend applying two coats of the primer, prior to painting.

After your primer has dried, you can paint your piece. Any of the Rust-Oleum spray or brush on products will work for you.

If you have any more questions, please let us know!
