What to do if grounding green wire on new dryer cord is too short?

I need to install a four prong dryer cord on my dryer. On the new cord, the green grounding wire is too short to reach to the proper location.  I can put what I see as a lot of strain on the wire to make it reach.  However, I'm concerned that will cause an issue with the cord.

Carefully trim back the jacket of the cord to expose more of the wires inside, that should give you enough length to get to the ground screw.
