Hello Jean1,

Welcome to the community!

The size of the screw will depend on the size of the hole.

Use a screw that is about 2 or 2.5 inches in length and one that is galvanized and/or rated for exterior use.

Lots of larger coarse-thread screws like #8 or #10 can easily go into the hole without needing a washer.

Deck-Tite Decking and Outdoor Screw #8 x 1-1/2 in. (4mm x 40mm) 200 Pieces/Box

If possible, try to measure or trace the size of the hole and bring it down to your nearest Home Depot. Then we can get you the best fastener screw for your mailbox.

I hope this information has helped you, and let us know if we can further assist you.

Regards,

Joseph
