When DIY Doesn't Go As Planned

"How To" Back Up In The Name of Progress

While I hope that all of your DIY projects go as planned, it is unrealistic to expect 100-percent success.

In an attempt to paint her three-tier garden fountain, a DIYer chose an "Interior Only" spray paint.

When filled with water, she discovered her mistake as the coating began to flake.

I made this video to explain how to back up in the name of progress ... relatively easy steps when you apply the right tools.

Here is the acorn fountain-head after one coat of primer and one coat of exterior-rated paint; next to the larger bowl with just one coat of primer.

After backing up, Self-Etching Primer and Exterior Autumn Brown paint reproduced an outstanding exterior-rated coating that will blend with the natural beauty of her garden.

NOTE:
Self-etching primer is designed to promote adhesion on fiberglass and resin surfaces ... like this fountain.

Here is the completed recovery ... the fountain ready to assemble and return to her garden.

Without any doubt, an excellent recovery.

When we connected the water and her fountain flowed again, she was thrilled.
