When is the best time of the year to mulch plant beds? Should I wait till the summer gets going or do it early in the spring? Also, has anyone found a better way to distribute the mulch, other than wheeling it all over the yard?
Mulch is a "both, please!" kind of subject.
Mulch is recommended for the winter to maintain soil warmth. It is also ideal for the spring and summer because it prevents weed growth and it holds moisture in the soil, so that plants can handle the stress of the hot months.
Mulch decomposes into the soil, giving its nutrients to the plants. Additional mulch will keep this process going.
Moving a large quantity of mulch is a daunting task. Our 2 cubic foot bags are easily placed in the beds where you need them. Cut open the bag, spread the mulch, and collect the empty bags.
