Where to find 32" tall interior door?

I want to create a closet in the void under my staircase, and need a door that is 32" tall. Where do builders find small doors like this? You see them sometimes for attic access too.

Hey Tim,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

In short, it can be made by way of lumber/building materials by someone or yourself. The 2nd option would be to see if it can be special ordered.

If done carefully and with the right materials, you can setup to give the final casing and panels of the door. If you wish to do it yourself, it starts with measuring the casing and the final door size. For surfaces, using 1/8" luan plywood is a great choice for this. It's lightweight and easy to cut on a saw.

Are you able to build a door like this yourself? Let us know and we can go into more details with you. If not, you can choose a local builder in your area who can do this for you, or talk to a Millworks associate at your local Home Depot who can attempt to special order it for you.

The key is knowing your measurements, this includes the casing too.

Let us know what you decide to do, and I hope this has assisted you.
