Hey Brownthumbs.

Most Lilacs struggle in south Florida simply due to the fact that they demand very fertile soil and have a hard time dealing with South Florida's infertile, sandy soil. This plant does better in cooler, Northern climates as well and they even struggle here in Atlanta.

The girls in New Hampshire, (the Boston team) wrote up a great article on Lilac bushes, discussing how well Lilacs grow up North. Click here to read that article.
