Windmill Palms in WA Home Depot Location

I am wondering if any Washington state Home Depots sell Windmill Palms (Trachycarpus fortunei). I am located in Seattle, 98107.

Are there any stores that sell these currently?

Are they sold in a specific season?

Hey CamFriedz.

I have worked in the Atlanta store for 20 years and we have always got our Windmill palms in in the spring time around April or May. You are in zone 8, as am I so I would imagine that you should see them arrive around the same time. Windmill Palms are cold hardy in your area. I had one planted in my yard here growing up for the 17 years that I lived in that house and it did just fine.

Greetings Cam,

I can understand why you are seeking a Windmill Palm (Trachycarpus fortunei), the graceful yet stately, cold tolerant Palm will grow and thrive in zones 7b-11.

Washington usda zones

The Windmill Palm will thrive in full to partial sun, it is slow growing and must have well drained soil. The palm is very tolerant of exhaust and pollution and will grow in a generous container; that is why is a top choice for interior and exterior “green-scapeing” in major, luxury hotels and also office buildings. The Windmill Palm is the perfect plant for poolside plantings, it has a carefree tropical appeal with a clean growth habit, sending no debris into the pool.

The Home Depot in Seattle will have Windmill Palms available for sale in the late spring months. Stop by your local Home Depot, ask to speak with the stores “live goods specialist”, ask about availability and expected arrival time, or ask about placing a special order for a Windmill Palm.

You have chosen a lovely palm for your Washington state home, I have to admit that when I think of Seattle I never thought of palm trees, but now I will!

Good luck with your search!

Thank you both for your informative answers! I am planning to head to Home Depot soon to purchase a few!

I am hoping you can help me identify  a palm/plant that I am interested in buying and was hoping you could also let me know if my local Home Depot will carry them at some point this year.
