Would a 5" pullout with a cabinet frame be realistic for a 7.5"-8" space?

I want to have a small pullout pantry in between my refrigerator and oven. The space is between 7.5" to 8".  Right now im looking at a 5" pullout but im not sure if with the cabinet frame, that it would fit in the space.

Hi Mechromancer,

Our kitchen designers tell me that of the pull out pantries our kitchen cabinet manufacturers offer, the minimum width is 9 inches.

A five inch width would restrict what can be placed in the pantry.  Many quart size cans would be a tight fit.

In addition you don’t want too much space between the pantry and the adjoining cabinets as items could fall out of the pantry and jamb in between the pantry and the other cabinets.

I might suggest a 7 inch wide roll out pantry, which would allow clearance on either side for the unit to move in or out without leaving too much space between the pantry and the adjoining cabinets.

The kitchen designers at your local Home Depot can show you some examples of our available pull out pantries and give you some ideas of how to construct yours.

Let us know how your project turns out.
