Hello ctluke!

Solvents like Acetone or Denatured Alcohol are great cleaners, but most importantly they evaporate completely off the surface at room temperature.

In the process of bonding to your metal, you wouldn't want anything between the metal and the primer.

These solvents ensure a clean, residue-free surface ... allowing your primer to create a secure bond that will then allow your paint to last for many years.

NOTE:

My preference is Acetone.
