Many cabinets have blocks (either wood or plastic) in the corners to attach the countertop.  You just want to make sure you're driving the correct length screw!

For smaller cabinets like vantities, you can just use a nice bead of silicone caulk.

Hello bwlive21 and thank you for joining The Community.  We are glad that you are here.

I have several resources for you.  First is the Installing a Laminate Countertop Project Guide that has a Tools & Materials List as well as action photos of each step that you will need to follow.  You can watch a video of a countertop installation. Last but certainly not least is care and maintenance instructions to keep your new countertop looking great for years to come.

As for attaching the countertop to the cabinet, there are two scenarios: (1) if the cabinet has a top surface, fasten the countertop by screwing up through the bottom of the cabinet top into the countertop or (2) if the cabinets have no tops, screw through the front rail and any blocks built into the cabinet.  (Refer to the video.)

Best wishes on your project.
