Hi Weespy,

All doors have a solid wood frame around the perimeter of the door. This frame is designed to accept the hinges and the door lock.

In order to maintain the doors structural integrity and to keep it centered in the opening, you will need to trim both sides of the door.

For example in your case you will be removing 5/16 of an inch from the width.  5/16th inch equals 10/32nds, divide the 10/32 by 2 to determine how much to trim off each side.

Thus you will have to remove 5/32nds of an inch off each side to achieve the 29 and 11/16ths width.

This will keep the door centered in the opening and assure that there is sufficient material on either side to attach the hinges or the lock set.
