Paint

determine the amount of paint needed

I have a room 66ft long, 40ft wide, and 6.5ft tall. How much paint should I expect to need?

Area is length x width (or in this case, height).  So 66 x 6.5 x 2 (walls) = 858,  40 x 6.5 x 2 = 520.  858 + 520 = 1378 sq. ft.  Figure coverage at 300 sq. ft. per gallon.  That may be more or less depending on the quality of the paint, sheen, and color change.  1378 / 300 = 4.6 gallons.  Buy a five gallon bucket.  If you want/need a second coat, you'll get better coverage but it may still be cheaper to buy a second bucket rather than individual gallons.
