dryer letting in cold air

I just had a new dryer installed and the new one is letting in a whole lot of cold air. Is there a part I can put on it to stop this?

Hello brandisholtz!

The external vent, through which hot air and moisture exhaust, is built with flap(s) that swing shut to keep cold air out.

Here are two examples:

The first step toward stopping cold air is to check the function and replace non-functioning vents.

Another option is to cover the vent during extremely cold weather and vent to the interior of your home.

This saves energy by recycling the hot air, but also adds moisture inside your home.
