If the concrete surface has standing water after, say, a rain for some period of time then I would be concerned.  If water drains off, the tiles have grooves on the back to allow water movement so mold shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Willc,

Moisture build up does encourage mold to flourish, but so do deck rails and other outdoor surfaces.

The answer may not be foregoing your desired look, but rather treating the surfaces with Mold Control and/or Mold Armor Deck Wash.

Both will help eliminate existing mold and with regular treatment will keep it away.

I treat my deck about three times a year which takes only 30-minutes with the hose-end container.
