framing a bathroom mirror

There are a few secrets to applying wood trim to the outside of a bathroom mirror...


Try and pick a style of trim that has a slight lip to the back edge (usually as deep as the thickness of the mirror) - so that it will fit up against the wall tightly. See below:


DecraMold DM E7760 3/4 in. x 1-3/16 in. Pine Trim Embed Moulding House of Fara 3/4 in. x 1-1/4 in. x 96 in. Hardwood Panel Cap Moulding

  1. Cut 45 degree angles (like a picture frame) so that the trim will cover the mirrors corner.
  2. Paint both sides of the frame pieces before attaching them.
  3. Glue the frame onto the wall or mirror with clear silicone - starting with the bottom and then each side.  You may want to hold them up until they are dry with some masking tape.
  4. After the frame has dried, paint an additional coat if needed.
