Does the light on the motor flash? You have power to the unit? In older homes the gfci outlet in the master bath protects the load in the garage. Need some more info in order to help.

Motor runs but door dosen't move. The plastic gears inside got chewed up so we replaced them. Now the door won't go up or down.

What brand is it?  Some use open/close limit switches that attach to the track, does your have that or are they internal limit switches?  Sometimes with units that have the open/close limit switches internal and gears are replaced the limits switches can move, they are basically a threaded plastic screw with a contact on it, so when the door is opening the screw is turned via the gears until the carrier contact is completed.  You can either try to adjust these or take cover off the unit and look for them, usually on the bottom of the unit.   If it’s a genie use the link below to see what the limit switch looks like.  Hope this helps.*/fyVMtP8A

But if the gears that were replaced were done incorrectly, example if its a screw drive ensure that it is connect to the drive of the motor. Also ensure the carrier for the door is engaged.

It is a craftsman .Don't see any limit switches on the track so it must be internal. No light on the motor flashing  just the regular bulb is lit. Don't see any flashing lights.  Gears appear to be in  right and everything is turning. The carrier is engaged.

Also does it sound like it just running or hum's like it is trying but is stuck or door is too heavy as if overhead door spring is broke?
