Hello babpeak and thank welcome to the How-to Community.

I'm not sure at what stage of the project you're right now but from my experience you almost always better of ordering pre-insulated ductwork from the HVAC supplier. You’ll have an option of pin welded or double wall.

If this is something that’s already installed, in place, then I would suggest looking into Polyguard products.

Hope this helps,

George

Thanks, George, but could you dumb it down for me?

I also need to insulate exterior ductwork located on top of a flat roof.

The duct work was already installed (previous owner). I need to know what products to use to insulate it. I saw you recommend Polyguard, but I have 3 questions:

  • Which Polyguard product is recommended for exterior residential use?
  • Where can I puchase Polyguard (because apparently, it's not my local Home Depot)?
  • Are there any solutions that I can purchase locally to install myself?

Thanks. I've asked half a dozen guys at the local HD how to go about doing this to no real end, so if you have any knowledge to impart, I could really use your help!
