how do you install a thermostat guard

My mother has an old round thermostat on her dining roo wall. She's in the beginning stages of dementia and in the winter, she's always cold and turning the thermostat up to 80 degrees. I'd like to install a cover over it, the locking kind with the key, so she can't always fool with it but I don't know how! I'm a girl and I don't really know how to do home repair stuff, but I want to learn!

Hello Wheekie!

In most cases, you simply open the locked door and attach the cover to the wall surrounding the thermostat.

Once screwed down securely, you set the thermostat, close the cover, lock and locate the key in a place you can remember.

Most often, the hinge is located on the top and the lock on the bottom.
