Hello jz!

Since your question doesn't specify, I'll demo the repair on a single handle Delta faucet.

Turn off the water supply lines before beginning.

Delta Single Handle Faucet.jpg

1) Remove the plastic cap on the side of the handle, insert an Allen wrench and loosen the set screw, and remove the handle;

2) Use a crescent wrench to remove the valve retaining cap (labeled B above);

3) Remove the valve ball assembly, seals, seats, and seat springs (labeled 3 above);

4) Seats and seat springs may require forceps to reach into the bottom of the valve body;

5) Take these parts to the Plumbing Department and purchase the matching Ball Assembly Repair Kit;

6) Install seat springs, seats, seals, and valve ball in the reverse order which they came out;

7) Tighten valve retaining cap until snug;

8) Assemble handle, tighten set screw, and replace plastic cap onto handle; and

9) Turn water supply lines on and test.

Apply a small amount of valve and seal lubricant to ensure the valve slides easily against the new seals and seats.

This will ensure smooth valve operation and extend the life of the new seals and seats.
