Hi Pearsongloriaj, welcome to the community. We’re so glad you joined. Cleaning that rubber seal or gasket is very important. Keeping it clean will help stop odors and grit and grime buildup.

There are several ways to clean the inside rubber seal on a front load washer. Each manufacture has their own way of cleaning this seal in their manual.

A couple of basic ways you can perform this maintenance of your washer seal.

Use a diluted solution of bleach ¾ cup to a gallon of water. Wear rubber gloves, dip a sponge or damp cloth into the solution and wipe the inside of the rubber seal down.  Leave the door open and let stand approximately 5-10 minutes.

Wipe the rubber seal dry and let washer air out until dry.

Another way is to use a product called Affresh. One of their products is called grit grabber. You carefully pull back the rubber door seal and wipe out the entire area and surface with the rough side of grit grabber cloth. Leave the door open to air dry.

This type of maintenance should be done at least once a month. Hope this answered your question.
