Hi Colorsky,

I’m Jen, from the Home Depot.

Tell me about the lighting in this area?  How many hours of sun is it getting per day?  Also, what is growing nearby?  Are there trees with roots in this area?  Have you fertilized in this area, this year?  If so with what, some fertilizers contain chemicals that block grass seed germination.

If you are getting a good amount of sun and do not have any roots or trees in the way, try starting from the beginning.

1.      With a metal tine rake, scratch the top 2” of soil to loosen things up.

2.      Then add a good layer of Seeding Soil.  This contains starter fertilizer and will help with germination and the overall thickness of your grass.

3.      Next, add your seed.  Be sure it is a perennial seed.  Some bags contain annual seed that will only grow for one season.

4.      Then water frequently.

Let us know your zip code and we can offer you a more specific seed for your area.

I look forward to hearing from you and getting you on your way to a lush lawn.
