Hello n_kafara, and welcome to the community!

I work in the Doors & Windows department, so I get this question often. A security door is similar to a storm door with the exception being the security storm door has wrought iron or steel decorative bars on the outside to prevent someone from breaking into the home.

Below you will find a snapshot taken from the Andersen brochure, it gives you a step-by-step process on how to measure for a storm door. The location of where you measure is critical, if you are off by 1/4" it could be the difference between the door fitting or not fitting.

The second picture below shows you a overhead view of where to measure. That exterior door trim is called Brickmould, regardless if your house has brick or not, you need to have this trim in order to install the storm door.

Take your measurements into the Home Depot and the Door & Window expert will help you find your door. And if you don't want to measure it yourself, Home Depot will do it for you & install it!
