Hello jumun86.  Welcome to the Community!

Assuming you are asking about a ceiling fan motor pull switch, I will give you a quick guide.

Here is what a typical switch looks like:

Since the pull chain is easy to find by looking at the fan, you will know what part of the housing you will need to remove in order to access the switch.

Make sure you have turned off the power to the fan at the circuit breaker/fuse box.

Remove the lower part of the fan housing/light kit until you can access the switch.

The red arrow points to a knurled brass nut that unscrews.  This is what holds the switch securely in the housing.

Unscrew that nut and slide it down the chain.  You can now bring the wired switch down and look at it.

Notice the labels on the black plastic housing of the switch: L, 1, 2 and 3.

Write down the color of wires on the old switch that correspond to these labels before you disconnect anything.

Normally you do not have to cut the wires from the old switch.  They are typically soldered at the end and come out using a small flathead screwdriver.

Replace each wire in the same location as the original.

Secure the new switch by screwing in that knurled nut, and put the fan housing back on.

Flip the breaker back on and your fan should now run.

Is this what you are looking for?
