howdo I get my fan to stop squeeling?

My Fan has started making a rubbing sound like the bearings need grease. What should I do to fix it?

Hi donandbrutis,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

Most ceiling fans in the industry are self-sealed; that is, the motor itself is.

With that said, unless it isn't a problem with the fan motor (like the fan arms, etc), its going to be a very tall order to fix it.

If it were me, I'd first check the top of the motor housing of your fan to see who manufactured it. If it is our Hampton Bay brand or Hunter, you can see if you can get a replacement motor.

However, check to see what fan you have first, and we can go from there.

Keep us updated,

Joseph
