i have three Hampton bay islander fans, model670-787--vendor number 445993....

One of these lost a run capacitor and the three speed switch, i was able to find a cap online and picked up a Westinghouse switch in my local store..Matching the wiring in one of the other fans i replaced both... The fan now only runs on high.. The switch has the same markings as the won i replaced but must not be the same???????Markings are L,1,2,3...what is the difference the switches and how can i correct this???????

thanks dan

Hey groom1109,

Welcome to the community.

From what it sounds like, you put the wrong wires in the improper sequence. You would simply correct it by re-installing the wires into the switch, using various configurations.

Since I am not aware of how the switch was done before, you will just have to wire it until you find the proper sequence. Short of replacing the entire fixture, this is the only way I am aware to do this.

Keep us updated on your progress,

Joseph
