Hi cathyv,

Thank you for your question and welcome to our community.  We are glad that you are here. When thinking about insulating your storage shed, you want to think safety as well as what is economical. Cheap is not always the safest thing to use when it comes to insulation.  Back in the 1920’s and 1930’s, newspaper was commonly used as an inexpensive insulation in many older homes, until it was discovered that this type of insulation was also highly volatile.  Any spark could set this flammable material off and start a raging inferno.

It would be much safer to use regular commercial insulation that can be purchased at your local Home Depot with an R value adequate for your area.  Check with your local Home Depot for some great prices on Owens Corning EcoTouch Kraft insulation in the continuous roll 3-1/2in. x 15 in. x 32 ft.  It is an R-13 Continuous Roll Insulation which works great if you have not finished off your walls with drywall yet.

The Home Depot carries several types of rolled insulation all the up to an R-30- value.  Contact your local Home Depot for additional information.

Be sure to take a video of your insulating project and share it with the rest of the community in our Project Library under “I Did This”.  Please let us know if you have any further questions.

This has been another of,
