light switch replacement

I am trying to replace an old light switch.  The old light switch has two wires - one red and one black - both of which are connected to copper screws.  Isn't it supposed to have a grounding wire?  How should I connect these to the new switch?

Hi lperry,

Quick  answer to your question is YES, switch is definitely supposed to be grounded.

However If the wiring is fed  through the metal conduit or armored cable, than conduit itself is the ground conductor and ground wire it's not needed.

What type of wiring do you have ?
