one piece shower/tub surroun question??????????????

I am in need of some help!!! I need to know if it is possible to apply a decorative tile of any sort to a already installed tub/shower surround to save on having to replace it and to give it an updated look. We are on a tight budget but this bathroom is in need of updating.

Hello mandalynn1977.  Welcome to the Community!

 

Unfortunately, tile must be installed on to a solid and secure surface that does not move.  Tub surrounds are flexible and if you tried to tile them these tiles would pop out in no time at all.  I am afraid that you will have to remove the surround and build proper support for a tile wall.

 

If this does not deter you, then there is the matter of mortars and mastics.  These adhesives are not made for plastic surfaces.  Sorry, but this is just not a good idea.
