We want to paint our dining room and living room they share a wall   we wanted to paint the dining red and the living room mocha what would be a great third color for the wall that is in both rooms?

It depends on the shade of red and mocha you are using, what color family they are in and your own color preferences as well as other treatments in the room such as draperies, carpet, and furniture colors.  It's best to bring samples of those two colors into the HD paint department and associates can show you swatches and sample collections in the same range to help you narrow it down to the color you want.  I personally would think that a white, or off white would be a good third color but there are so many variations you would still need to compare swatches.  Hope this helps.

It's a delicate balance of finding a color that doesn't take away from the two accent colors. Also, you don't want to favor one or the other by over complimenting (meaning - not having the same hue).  I suggest painting the two accents and then bring in potential samples.
