paint stripping

What product will take paint off of a table?  Its paint from 40+ years ago and its stubborn.  Mahogany wood table.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello LindaMac!

Welcome to the Community!

In an earlier thread, a member asked for help on a similar project.

I believe you'll find your solution using that information.

Have a look.

There is one other detail: strippers sometimes remove the paint and/or clearcoat with one or two applications, but a stained piece of furniture may hold onto some of the embedded color.

In this case, prepare an afterwash using a pint of White Vinegar and a gallon of warm water. This solution, applied with a soft bristle scrub brush, will "bleach" the remaining stain to even the color on the piece. Allow the solution to work for 10-15 minutes (but not dry), then rinse completely with fresh, clean water.

You'll be ready to refinish after the piece dries overnight.

Follow up after you remove the finish and we'll chat about refinishing!
