repair hole in aluminum siding

After moving the dryer, we're left with the vent hole, which goes through a plaster wall, insulation, wood clapboard, and aluminum siding. How would you recommend filling the hole? Thx.

Welcome back to the community!

The exterior siding can be fixed by one of two possibilities:

Replace the section of siding with an exact match:  If the section is small enough to manage - then just pop the top part off with a siding removal tool and replace it with the new one.

Cover the section with a plate:  I have used a 4” round electrical plate cover with self-tapping screws to attach it to the siding.  Then paint it to match the existing siding color.

The interior wall can be patched with a self-sticking metal mesh drywall patch.  Apply two coats of patching compound, sand and paint to match the existing wall color.

*One quick note: fill the hole with isolation before any final repairs.

Hope this helps.
