How to measure for replacement windows?

Hi rmele_ir and thank you for joining our How-to Community.

 

What type of windows are you replacing here?

 

If these are old wood windows you want to measure from the inside of the frame (where the operating panels are at) to the inside of the frame. Take three measurements of the width top, center and the bottom + the height measurement.

 

If the existing are vinyl ,your best is to measure the actual windows. Take the trim off the one of the windows to get an idea how much room should be accounted for the trim.
