stem casters

I want to add casters to a table with small-diameter wooden legs, but I don't understand how to install a stem caster. I have limited tools.

Hello pattyohtable and welcome to the community!

There are a variety of sizes and colors to choose. Installation is not difficult as long as you have a drill, drill bits and a hammer.

First you need to drill a hole into each leg, the drill bit size will depend on the caster you purchase, check on the back of the package it will tell you the size hole to make and how deep. You can wrap masking tape around the drill bit to give you a reference point of when you have gone deep enough

Once that is done, then you need to tap the inserts into the holes firmly, notice the jagged edge at the bottom (see arrow below), that gets tapped into the wood as well.

Once the insert are in place, then you can push the caster stems into the inserts, and then your done. Let us know if you have any questions about the process.
