substituting LED for Halogen on track lighting

Hello:

Can I substitute LED MR 16 Flood LED Bulbs for my currently installed MR 16 Halogen Bulbs on my track lighting using the same base?

Thanks,

ELR

Hi ELR,

Whether your base is GU5.3 in 12 volt or the bigger GU10 in 120 volt, LED versions of them can be substituted.

Equally as important though, is making sure if these are going to be dimmed to use a dimmer rated for LED bulbs. While an existing version could work, it may not work as effectively as one made for them.

If you aren't dimming them, then you are okay. But for future reference, if you ever dim LED light bulbs, make sure the bulbs themselves are dimmable and the dimmer itself is rated to dim them.

Let us know if you have any further questions,

Joseph
