tankless water heater install power source ?

customer has rental property wants to change 4 water heaters to tankless power source now is plug in power source

Hello again hannalola.

Electric tank type water heaters are available up to about 6 gallon size that use a standard 120 volt 15 amp plug in.  That should be a dedicated circuit for the point of use heaters, as they will likely draw at least 10 amps when heating. 

Tankless heaters only draw power when heated water is asked for, but will typically draw more power to instantly heat the cold water intake.  There are plug-in models, even some that take 120 volts, but even those will likely require a 20 amp or higher circuit.  Check out this link as an example of some smaller units we sell:

All tankless electric heaters that do more than point of use duty will be hard wired and not plug-in.
