tie-down straps

What straps would be recommended for securing a full size mattress & box spring to the roof of a car?  Also, any tips/ suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks =)

Hi DirtyGirl,

Thank you for your question and welcome to our community.  It is always a precarious task when attempting to strap something as aerodynamic as a mattress and box springs to the top of your roof.  I have seen some absolutely nightmarish attempts going down the road.

If you have the option available to you, I would suggest that you rent the “Load N Go” from your local Home Depot Tool Rental if at all possible.  This is a much safer option for you and the motorists around you.

The difficulty is in securely attaching this slippery item to the top of your car.  Whether it be straps or a rope, tying the mattress and box springs to the top of your car so that it will not slip off, is a daunting task.  You can tie it onto the top of your car, but will it be secured safely???  You would be a lot better off in a pickup truck or better yet, in the Load N Go from The Home Depot Tool Rental.

The items will still have to be secured in the back of the truck, but this way, you will be able to do it safely and securely.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

This has been another of,
