under mount sink used as top mount

Can an undermount sink be used as a top mount sink.

Under mount sinks usually lack the "lip" which gives a sink the ability to be used as a top mount sink. So without major modifications, no you can not use an under mount sink as an top mount sink.

Hello 2leftthumbs and welcome to The Community.  We are glad that you are here.

 

Lynch is correct; without a lot of modification, your under mount sink cannot be used as a top mount (drop-in) sink.  The Home Depot does carry several hundred sinks that are “dual mount” which allow installation in either configuration. The installation instructions will detail the options available with your sink.
