HI Rcassell,

The first step is to speak to your neighbor and ask if their TV is at such a high volume for a reason. Are they hard of hearing? Are they trying to drown out some other sounds?

If they are uncooperative speak to your apartment manager, all tenants are required to respect their neighbors right to peace and quiet.

Here are a few ideas to drown out the din.

Place carpet on the wall this will act as a sound baffle. It can make an interesting décor item as well.

The sound coming from an adjoining room can be blocked with large book cases or bureaus placed along the wall. These large items absorb the sound vibrations.

Sound also travels through HVAC ducting and doorways, use weather stripping insulation on your apartment door, paying special attention to the gap under the bottom of the door.

Close any unused HVAC ducts and seal any openings in the wall that may allow air and thus sound to pass through.

Use caulk to seal around the base boards to block out sound.

Let us know which methods worked for you!
