I live in Detroit, MI. I recently bought a new home. This is my first year taking care of the lawn. My lawn currently has some circular patches of dead grass. The lawn overall is a lot thinner than my neighbor's . I need some advise on how to take care and maintain my lawn year around. Also, can you please advise as to what I can do to regrow the dead patches of lawn. Since spring has just started here in Michigan, I thought I can get some advise and get a head start on my lawn care. Thank you

Greetings Suchi506 and welcome to the How-To-Community!!!
My name is Mike and I work with The Home Depot in Chicago and I have a few ideas to help you get that desired lawn. The first thing I would do would be to fill in all of those dead spots. The best thing for fixing spots like this would be to use something like Easy Seed by Scotts or Penningtons 1 Step Complete . It has seed fertilizer and mulch all in one. This is nice because all you have to do is water after you apply this to the ground and you will have grass. When you’re removing the old grass depending on the spots I would advise looking for grubs. Grubs can leave dead patches in the grass and its prime season for them. You can tell if the grass and dirt pull up with little effort and in 1 clump. If this happens you should pick up some Grub Ex and it will take care of the grubs.
To brighten up your lawn there a few items that you could use. If you’re just looking to get a nice full super green lawn you could use something such as a Scotts Super Green Max or . This provides the lawn with 10x the feeding power of Ironite Mineral Supplement for thicker, stronger grass. If you notice you have a lot of weeds starting to pop up you can use something such as a Scotts or Vigoro Weed and Feed. This is very common to use around this time of the year. It will help control weeds in your lawn and feed it at the same time. Also as it starts to get warmer make sure to water your grass. This will be a big factor in keeping it looking nice.
If you run into any problems or have any questions feel free to write back. Also if you could post some pictures that would be great!
