My husband and I just installed Laminate flooring -Hanover Oak in our upper level of our home. The install went great, and the flooring looks absolutely beautiful. However, we noticed a dark mark or scratch on on of the boards closer to the middle of the floor!. I tried to clean it with soap and water and the stain/scratch is still there. Is anyone familiar with how this can be repaired or are there any repair kits that will help this problem. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the community.
Isn't it a great "rush" when you DIY a project like this and it looks great? In the same manner - it hurts just as much when an issue like this one arises.
Without actually seeing the mark on the floor, and taking into consideration the description you gave - I think it might just be a form of a "skuff mark". If a gouge occurred, then you might see a lighter mark (raw wood) rather than a darker one. Take your hand and gently feel the surface to see if there is a difference in texture over that spot.
- If the area feels smooth. Then try a product called "GOOF- OFF" to clean the surface. Make sure to use the water based version so that the floor sheen wont be compromised.
- If the area is a scatch or a gouge, then you will have to either sand and refinish the whole board or just replace it. When sanding, keep in mind that the top layer of wood is very thin. So if you sand too much you might expose the layer underneath. If that occurs, then the only remedy is to replace that whole board.
I am with you and am hoping that it is merely a scuff mark. Keep us posted.

To fix or repair light, minor scratches to your laminate floors, your best bet is to purchase a laminate floor repair kit. These can be purchased at your local home improvement store or online at several different web sites. These kits come in a variety of shades and colors, so you should bring a piece of the laminate flooring with you to select just the right kit. Using these kits is as easy as following the step-by-step instructions that come inside the package.
