Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!
I am a flooring associate in my store and I have some great news regarding the not-so-great look on your floor tiles.
You have several options to choose from regarding cleanup and maintaining a great look for a long time. I am going by from the information you gave that they are old vinyl or vinyl composition tiles. Firstly, depending on the severity of your tile you can use a floor maintainer to clean up the tile as SteelToes stated to me earlier. While you can rent out a floor maintainer (also called a buffer) lets dive into just using household cleaning products and tools for right now. If you need something like the floor maintainer, just let us know on here and we can go farther with your solution in that regard. I will show you some products to use that not only I like, but my customers regularly ask for them by name. I did a post with almost exactly your same question last November, but this time around I'll get you some more detail about the tools to clean it too.
Left: Hoover Multi-Floor Detergent: great for not only your vinyl tiles but other hard surfaces as well around the house
Center: Armstrong Once n' Done Floor Cleaner: same as Hoover's cleaning abilities, and one that my customers always ask for by name in the Flooring department
Right: Allure Single Step Cleaner and Polish. Use this for cleaning as well as bringing back that lost lustre on your vinyl floor
Using the right cleaning tool for your tiles will also help. If the areas are really bad, say in high traffic areas, use one of the cleaners above, with a good vinyl cleaning scrub brush to knock off the layers of grime and dirt. Then, I'd suggest using a spray mop for the entire floor that you can pick up at your local home center. Here's a picture of one:
As per our website: I'll read you off benefits of using a spray mop.
The microfiber pad is reusable so you no longer have to buy disposable pads. Plus spray mops pick up 50% more dirt and dust per swipe than traditional mops. The Refillable Spray bottle allows you to stop buying expensive solutions and create your own using your favorite household cleaner or use plain hot water.
- Safe to use on all hard floors including vinyl, hardwood, laminate and tile
- The Refillable Spray Bottle allows you to customize your clean. Just mix your favorite solution with water or use plain hot water*
- The Microfiber cleaning pad picks up 50% more dirt and dust per swipe than traditional mops
- The Microfiber pads are reusable – simply hand wash or machine wash after using
- Non-battery operated spray trigger allows you to dispense as much or as little solution needed to clean your floor
- Constructed with durable yet lightweight material
*Unless the cleaning solution states that it is concentrate, most cleaners do not need to be mixed with hot water, but always read the manufacturer's instructions before cleaning.
Again, assuming that this is a vinyl tile, the Allure Singlestep polish and cleaner works great so you don't have to worry about extra time and tools to clean your floor.
Hope this helps you out uwiwarren, and again welcome to the community!
